World Book Day: Rosie's Hat!

2nd Mar 2018

Primary 1 & 2 learned all about movement today; understanding why do things move. We embarked on a STEM enquiry all about Rosie's Hat.

We blew some polystyrene balls with a straw to each other. Some children remarked that it was harder to move on the carpet because of the material. We then went outside and tested 5 balls of differing weight and size, we investigated which ball was moved by the wind. Next we thought about how to find the direction the wind is blowing in... Tomas said 'We can feel it blowing on our skin', Allister said we could check the weather vane and we all thought it would be a good idea to look for leaves blowing.

In the end we decided to make a wind streamer. Shay found the windiest spot in the playground and he said it was windiest because the wind could blow through the gate.

Next we made a beautiful kite and wrote our World Book Day characters on them to remember our fun, windy day!
