Pottery with Sasha Day 1

Past Pupil, Sasha McVey of Sasha McVey Ceramics and Potter & Bunny was in school today delivering an amazing workshop with P.1-4. Sasha is a very talented, Award winning Artist who specialises in Ceramics, practising within the Glens of Antrim in Northern Ireland, creating a range of high quality contemporary works from exclusive delicate Sculptures, Functional and Decorative Wares, Gifts and Commissioned Ceramics. In 2015 Sasha won the Northern Ireland Young Artist of the Year Award! So we are extremely lucky to have her in with our pupils this week!

P.1 & 2 made plaques which feature a native animals. P.3 & 4 also made plaques. They used mark making techniques to create textured motifs of a Irish species. They investigated and talked about colours, lines, shapes, textures and patterns. The children also had the opportunity to talk about own and other pupils work, and how the work was made.

The pupils work will be on display in the Tourist Information Centre at the Glenarm Walking Festival. After this arrangements will be made for the work to be returned to the children.
