Glenarm China Town!

P.1 and P.2 have begun their new topic which is 'Food, Glorious, Food!'.

This first week they have been learning all about Chinese culture and cooking. In Literacy we read 'The Magic Paintbrush' and completed lots of fun activities. We also had a Chinese cooking session; we made some scrummy fried rice and noodles. Some children loved it and others weren't so sure but they all gave it a try!

We participated in a lot of varied activities in Play-Based Learning. In construction we built the Great Wall of China, we made green tea in the water tray, we made Terracotta warriors from playdough, we put the New Year animals in order at the Numeracy Table, in Art we made Chinese dragons and lanterns and in role play we has great fun pretending to work and be customers in a Chinese Restaurant.

Lastly then we used our dragons and musical instruments to create a dragon dance around the school.

Lots of Chinese fun this week at Seaview!
